Pune, August 6, 2024 – Ten-year-old Avirat Chauhan has emerged victorious at the U IN Sports Open International FIDE Ranking Chess Tournament held in Alandi, Pune from July 30 to August 4. Scoring 7.5 out of 9 points, Avirat secured the top position and has garnered widespread praise for his achievement.

Avirat, a resident of Magarpatta City, Pune, has been training under the guidance of international chess coach Satyam Varude for the past four years. Varude’s online coaching sessions have played a crucial role in Avirat’s success. His mother, Sambhavna Chauhan, shared that Avirat began playing chess as a hobby when he was just 5 and a half years old. Since then, he has accumulated an impressive list of accomplishments.

In addition to his recent win, Avirat won the Under 7 National Asian Tournament and the Under 8 National Tournament. He also ranked among the top 9 out of 750 players at the LBHM tournament in Pune in May.

Sambhavna also highlighted her son’s journey and her constant support throughout his career. She expressed hope for further opportunities, stating that with sponsorship, they could take Avirat to international tournaments to compete globally.
