Pune: Traffic Woes To End As Work On Girme High School Road Gains Momentum, Traffic Police Steps In To Resolve Congestion
The Wanawadi Traffic Division assisted the Pune Cantonment Board, to promptly repair a storm water line and alleviate traffic congestion. Between Bhaironala Chowk and Lullanagar Chowk, near Girme High School, rainwater from the Army quarters was draining through the storm water line. A break in the pipeline led to the release of contaminated water onto the road, causing accumulation of one to one and a half feet of water and creating potholes. This situation severely slowed down traffic.
Today, officials from the Pune Cantonment Board, including Assistant Engineer Sukhdev Patil, were contacted, and the damaged storm water line was repaired immediately. The PMC officials are now working on filling the road potholes and restoring smooth traffic flow. The repair of the storm water pipeline has resolved the issues affecting residents and drivers and improved the traffic situation.
Pune Pulse Spoke to Sukhdev Patil, he said, “PMC was allowed to lay a water pipeline in the month of April May. It seems while doing the work one of the drainage lines got damaged which went unnoticed. And when heavy showers were reported in the city the water was pushed back from the line which flooded the area. The rain water and the drainage water both accumulated leading to flooding. This also damaged the road to a great extent. Now, we have laid a new drainage line which was damaged. The repair work will be done soon.”
