In a bid to accelerate the progress of the 23km Hinjewadi-Shivaji Nagar Metro line, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has directed the concessionaire to submit a detailed micro-plan to complete the remaining work. With only 68% of the project completed and the March 2025 deadline looming, PMRDA officials expressed concern over the current pace of work.

The micro-plan will outline the timeline for completing the remaining work over the next seven months. PMRDA officials emphasized the need for a ‘catch-up’ plan, as only 68% of the work has been completed, against the expected 88%.

A key component of the project, the integrated flyover from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk to E-Square junction, is expected to be completed by November-end, after missing the earlier deadline of August 15.

Unlike other Metro lines that opened in phases, the Hinjewadi-Shivaji Nagar line will open to the public in April 2025, amidst growing demand from commuters. With assembly elections around the corner, PMRDA is ensuring that all timelines are adhered to so as to avoid further delays.
