A multitude of tourists flock to Lonavla during the rainy season. Unfortunately, reckless drivers cause traffic congestion by flouting the rules. To address this issue, the traffic police have implemented a one-way traffic system. However, motorcyclists are also guilty of numerous violations. To tackle this, a targeted inspection drive took place on Thursday, resulting in fines for 200 drivers. Senior Police Inspector Suhas Jagtap mentioned that such enforcement will continue in the future.

Lonavala Police cracked down on vehicles breaking the one-way traffic rules in the market area, imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh 33 thousand. The one-way traffic system has been operational between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and Indrayani River  Bhangarwadi in Lonavala since June to ease market congestion. Despite this measure, many drivers continue to flout the rules, leading to complaints to the transport department and causing traffic issues. In response, a special campaign was initiated. With the rainy season attracting numerous tourists to Lonavala, some tourists also disregard the rules despite warnings. Consequently, the police have taken action by penalizing vehicles violating the traffic regulations.
