In a tragic incident near Alandi, a man took his own life after being harassed by a finance company over an alleged loan repayment default. The deceased, identified as Madhav Hanmant Waghmare (32), a resident of Bargevasti Road in Chimbali, committed suicide by hanging himself after the finance company forcibly took away his motorcycle, claiming he had defaulted on three installments.

Madhav had taken a loan from a private finance company in 2022 and had been diligently repaying the installments. However, on July 6, while he was at Ranjangaon for work, a representative of the finance company collected the installment. But on July 17, the same company representative confronted Madhav again in Ranjangaon, accusing him of missing three installments and demanding immediate payment of Rs. 49,000. The representative then assaulted Madhav and forcibly took his motorcycle. A complaint regarding the incident was filed at the Ranjangaon MIDC police station.

The loss of his motorcycle had a severe psychological impact on Madhav, who repeatedly shared his distress with his wife and brother. His wife, children, and brother were in Latur for Raksha Bandhan and other family events at the time. Before taking the drastic step, Madhav made a video call to his wife, informing her of his intention to commit suicide. Despite attempts by his wife and brother to dissuade him, and even after contacting the Pimpri-Chinchwad police control room for help, Madhav hanged himself before the Alandi police could reach him.
