Zoreen Kabani’s remarkable transition from finance to fashion highlights the courage it takes to pursue one’s passion. For 13 years, Kabani worked in finance, selling stocks and bonds at prominent firms like Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase. Despite her success, she felt unfulfilled. “I never felt fulfilled,” she admits. In April 2022, at 37, Kabani decided to quit her finance job and find work that resonated with her creative spirit.

Having immigrated from Pakistan to California at the age of 14, Kabani followed the traditional expectations of her culture, which often emphasized careers in finance, engineering, or medicine. She studied finance in both her bachelor’s and master’s programs, landing jobs at Goldman Sachs in 2010 and JPMorgan Chase in 2013. However, Kabani felt that her work lacked creativity, leading her to explore other avenues.

Her turning point came when her younger brother introduced her to Whatnot, an auction app where sellers livestream auctions of various items. Kabani quickly found her niche in women’s fashion and became captivated by the idea of selling clothing online. “I became obsessed,” she recalls. Within a month, she knew, “I can do this.”

What started as a side hustle soon evolved into a full-time career. Kabani’s page, zkstyles, has become a major success, earning her over $100,000 per month. Her background in sales made the transition smooth, and she discovered a new passion for sourcing and showcasing unique clothing. “It was a very natural progression for me to get in front of a camera and talk about a product,” she says.

Kabani’s business model stands out due to her dedication and attention to detail. She maintains a rigorous six-day streaming schedule, often lasting several hours each night. Her streams attract a loyal audience, and she has sold over 75,000 items on Whatnot to date. By offering styling tips and engaging with her customers, Kabani has built a successful and fulfilling career in a completely different industry.

Despite the long hours, Kabani loves her new venture. “I’m having so much fun playing with clothing,” she shares. Her story is a testament to the power of following one’s passion and taking bold steps toward a more fulfilling life.
