Maharashtra: PCRS App By Public Works Department Makes Reporting Of Potholes Easier For Citizens The Public Works Department has constructed over 1,18,000 km of road network, and all these roads are regularly maintained and repaired by the Department. There are three types of roads maintained by the Department: Major District Roads, State Highways, and Major State Highways. Roads get potholes after the monsoon, so the department has to face the wrath of the citizens. Pothole Complaint Redressal System (PCRS) has been developed to raise the image of the department among citizens by resolving pothole complaints. This android app will facilitate all citizens for registration of pothole-related complaints on PWD roads.

Procedure to Register Related Pothole Complaints through the PCRS Android app:

  • 1) Citizens shall install the PCRS app on their Android phones. Once the app is installed PCRS app will ask for permissions for Location and Storage, therefore, allow these permissions.
  • 2) Enter your Mobile Number in this app, You will receive a one-time password by SMS. Please enter this OTP to log in.
  • 3) To register a pothole complaint click on the ‘Register Feedback’ Button and your Mobile GPS will show your current location, then click on the camera icon, PCRS app will open the mobile camera, then click the photograph of the Pothole and submit your comments.
  • 4) Once the complaint is registered. PCRS app will identify the road name, taluka, and corresponding PWD field officers. If the Pothole belongs to a PWD road then a Complaint number will be generated by the system and an SMS will be sent to the citizen and corresponding Filed office Junior Engineer, Deputy Engineer, and Executive Engineer.
  • 5) The field office Junior Engineer will rectify the Pothole and reply through the Android app within 72 hours. Then the field Deputy Engineer will verify the reply of the Junior Engineer and finally submit compliance to the citizen within 1 day. Citizens will be intimated by SMS, He can also track their status on the Android app.
  • 6) A delay in reply of up to 7 days will be Monitored on Deputy Engineer Level, Delay between 7 to 15 days will be reviewed by the corresponding Executive Engineer, a 15 to 30 days delay will be monitored and reviewed by the corresponding Superintending  Engineer, and delays more than 30 days will be reviewed and monitored by Chief Engineer of the corresponding Region.
