Delhi Government Bans Firecrackers to Combat Pollution. The government imposed a complete ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers. Gopal Rai, Delhi’s Environment Minister, emphasized that even online sales and distribution of firecrackers would be prohibited. This comprehensive ban remains in effect.

As a result, the air quality deteriorates in Delhi. The changing weather conditions from October contribute to this decline, with lower temperatures affecting wind speeds. Additionally, farmers in neighboring states burning crop residue during this period further exacerbate pollution levels.

Furthermore, the tradition of bursting firecrackers during Diwali compounds the environmental challenges faced by Delhi. The current situation in Delhi presents a significant challenge.
