Pune, September 10, 2024 – The Sakhalipir Talim Rashtriya Maruti Temple in Pune has unveiled a unique display of the sacred ‘padukas’ (footwear) of 18 saints as part of its public Ganeshotsav celebrations. The event also features a replica of the Shri Sadguru Shankar Maharaj Math. The inauguration of this special exhibit was conducted by prominent entrepreneur Puneet Balan on Monday, September 9, at 6 pm, in the presence of several dignitaries.

The display includes the padukas of revered saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar, Muktabai, Sant Namdev, Janabai, Narhari Sonar, Sena Maharaj, Swami Samarth, and many others. Each day, from September 9 to 15, the temple will highlight the original padukas of iconic figures such as Shri Sai Baba, Jangli Maharaj, Akkalkot Swami Samarth, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Established in 1919, the Sakhalipir Talim Rashtriya Maruti Temple boasts a 105-year legacy and continues to promote national unity through its various initiatives.

During the inauguration, Puneet Balan commended the temple’s Ganeshotsav committee for its social contributions. “This temple has demonstrated how Ganesh mandals can effectively contribute to social causes. Their volunteers often step up during challenging times, and it was enlightening to learn about their efforts,” Balan said.

Ravindra Malvadkar, president of the temple, spoke about the social initiatives linked to the festival, including projects like ‘Vanchitanchi Diwali’ (Diwali for the underprivileged) and the ‘Sarvadharmiya Ashadhi Wari’ (All-Faith Pilgrimage). “We design and implement initiatives with the aim of helping the most marginalized sections of society,” he added.

The event concluded with the felicitation of volunteers and artists involved in creating the display, and a vote of thanks by Bhai Katare.
