Pune, October 4, 2024: Recent reports in several newspapers suggested the relocation of 50 companies from the Chakan MIDC. However, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has dismissed these claims, stating that no businesses from the Chakan industrial area have moved to Gujarat, Karnataka, or Andhra Pradesh.

The Chakan Industrial Area, encompassing Phases 1 to 4, spans 2,700 hectares. MIDC has developed 109 kilometers of road infrastructure along with other essential facilities, including street lighting, an 80-lakh-liter-per-day water supply center, a fire station, and parking areas to support industrial operations.

Due to heavy rains starting in June 2024, some roads in the area developed potholes. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) responded by repairing and maintaining the roads. Additionally, in response to requests from local businesses and employees, the concretization of key roads in Phases 2 and 4 is currently underway.

When the Secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industries was asked to provide a list of the 50 companies allegedly relocating, they were unable to do so. MIDC also confirmed that no complaints or reports have been received from entrepreneurs regarding any company relocations from the Chakan area.

There were also rumors that Mahindra & Mahindra planned to shift operations to Gujarat. However, a press note from PCMC has clarified that Mahindra & Mahindra, when contacted via email, confirmed that it has no intention of relocating its operations.
