The Durga Puja celebrations will start from:

  • Maha Sashti on October 9th
  • Maha Saptami on October 10th
  • Maha Ashtami on October 11th
  • Sandhi Puja on October 11th (11.43 am to 1 pm)
  • Maha Navami on October 12th
  • Dashami/Dussehra on October 13th

Every year, the aim is to ensure that our celebration of Durga Puja is based on the values of “CELEBRATION WITH RESPONSIBILITY”. This begins right from being conscious about the materials being used to make the idols, the paint that is applied on them, cutlery in which food is served by us during the celebrations, controlling the decibel levels during the programs and celebrations and ensuring that we, as a Sanstha, help in managing the traffic in the vicinity of the venue. Emphasizing this aspect, the President of Nandanik Sanstha – Mr. Sandip Mukherjee, says, “Our Sanstha has been extremely diligent in ensuring that we abide by all the rules and regulations laid down by the local authorities of the city. We believe that our celebrations should add to the prominence of Pune city’s cultural and traditional heritage, without disturbing the day-to-day affairs of the neighbourhood citizens”.

Our endeavour as a Sanstha has always been to uphold the beautiful culture and heritage of Bengal, by organising and creating platforms for performing arts, encourage the study of the rich Bengali language and literature and provide a much-needed exposure to the deep and rich ethos of Bengal. Pune being the cultural hub of Maharashtra, the response and love we have received in this journey, has encouraged us to continue on this path. Through our tireless efforts, we have tried our best to give the Probashi Bengalis (Bengalis who reside outside of West Bengal), as well as the locals, a taste of the classic Durga Puja celebrations in Bengal. We do this by recreating the vibes and energies, the ambience, the cultural programs and the various delicacies on offer. Our purpose is to ensure that all the devotees of Ma Durga revel in the nine auspicious days of Navratri, when they gather at the place of worship, to seek her divine blessings.

Sandip Mukherjee – President, Nandanik Sanstha, added that, “Every Probashi Bengali is always keen on how they can pass on the rich and precious values – the literature, the art and culture of Bengal, to the next generation. Most importantly, the question that one often asks is whether we are successful in generating the desired values and interests in our children. In Nandanik Sanstha, we take pride in taking up these initiatives very seriously. As such, keeping this objective in our minds, we try to put together programs that define the distinctive essence of our rich literary heritage. We try our best to instil among our children the essence of Bengali culture, by making our young members perform beautiful dramas written by literary legends from Bengal. Our musicals and dance programs are also based on similar patterns and themes.”

As an organisation, Nandanik Sanstha has been founded on the pillars, which have the core values of socio-cultural value deeply embedded in them. We constantly associate ourselves with several aspects of social work, so as to ensure that we provide moments of happiness to the less privileged and more deserving, in our society, as well. We feel blessed to have an opportunity to do our bit for the society, so that we all can enjoy the festivities together.

At Rohi Villa Palace grounds, like all previous years, this year too, we shall offer a wide range of food and non-food stalls that will cater to a wide variety of likes and aspirations of our devotees and visitors. We shall have the popular Pratap Caterers, who will offer delicious and authentic Bengali delicacies, including sweets, savouries, meals and meal combos. There would be many other fun food options to choose from as well, viz.  Pizza Hut, Barbeque Nation, One Lounge and Rolls Mania etc, who will be putting up their stalls too.
