Pune expands law enforcement: 7 new police stations to open Friday
In a big update for the city’s law enforcement, seven new police stations are set to open in Pune on Friday. The inauguration will happen at the Shivaji Nagar Police Headquarters at 2 PM, with well-known political figures Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar attending the event.
These new police stations are expected to strengthen the city’s security setup, with 816 extra police officers assigned to handle operations. Reports suggest that all seven stations will be up and running within the next week.
Currently, the Pune City Police Commissionerate has 32 police stations. The seven new stations are:
1) Kalepadal: Created by splitting Hadapsar, Wanavadi, and Kondhwa police station.
2) Ambegav: Created by splitting Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
3) Baner: Created by splitting Chatuhshrungi police station.
4) Wagholi: Created by splitting Lonikand police station.
5) Nanded City: Created by splitting Sinhagad Road police station.
6) Fursungi: Created by splitting Lonikand and Hadapsar police station.
7) Kharadi: Created by splitting Chandannagar and Lonikand police stations
This brings the total number of police stations in the city to 39. Each of these new stations will have designated roles for Inspector, Assistant Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Police Havaldar, and Police Constable.
