Pune News: Fire Erupts In Building Near Kamala Nehru Park, Engulfing 8 Vehicles; 7 Residents Rescued
Pune, October 13: A fire broke out in a building near Kamala Nehru Park, Erandwane, causing significant damage to vehicles and filling the entire structure with smoke. According to Gajanan Pathrudkar, Fire Officer from Erandwane Fire Station, the blaze consumed five two-wheelers and three four-wheelers.
The fire had the greatest impact on residents of the building’s first floor. Firefighters acted swiftly, using ladders to rescue seven people trapped inside the smoke-filled building, including an 80-year-old woman who was rushed to the hospital due to suffocation caused by smoke inhalation. The incident took place in Krishna Niwas Building near Kamala Nehru Park.
The fire department was alerted around 6:45 PM, and within 30 minutes, the flames were brought under control. Fire tenders from both the Erandwane and Kothrud fire stations were involved in the operation. 10 fire men conducted the operation.
Though the cause of the fire is still under investigation, quick action by the Pune Fire Brigade prevented further damage. Pathrudkar emphasized the scale of the fire and praised the team’s coordinated efforts in rescuing the residents and containing the situation.
