Pune News: NCP SP Protests Against Rising Violence Against WomenÂ
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharad Pawar faction has taken a strong stance against increasing violence against women in the state. In Pune, incidents of such crimes have surged over the past two months. A shocking recent case involved the assault of a three-year-old girl by a 32-year-old man in the Mundhwa area, which has triggered widespread outrage.
In response, the NCP, under the leadership of city president Prashant Jagtap and women’s wing leader Swati Pokale, held a protest at Goodluck Chowk. As a symbolic gesture, they burned an effigy of a three-headed Ravana, representing their opposition to the current ruling three-party alliance government.

Prashant Jagtap criticized the government for failing to protect women and called for its immediate resignation. The NCP also submitted a memorandum to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, demanding stronger measures to curb rising crime and ensure the safety of women.
Present at the protest were several party leaders and workers, including Prashant Jagtap, Swati Pokale, Ravindra Malvadkar, Vaishali Thopte, and others, alongside a large number of women from the city.
This protest marks a growing demand for accountability and action in response to the alarming increase in violence against women across the state.
