Today, we are going to share the inspiring story of Aastha Singh who left a lucrative job earning 1.8 million to empower farmers towards self-sufficiency.

Aastha Singh is empowering farmers in Bihar by providing training in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fish farming. She launched her training business under the name “Gramshree Kisan.” Today, her annual turnover has reached an impressive 30 million rupees.

Aastha Singh is a resident of Patna. Aastha began modeling alongside her studies right after completing her 12th grade. Aastha was selected for a modeling competition, but due to her family’s disapproval, she was unable to travel to the Philippines for the event. Following this, Aastha decided to bid farewell to her modeling career.

After pursuing engineering in Pune, she went on to earn an MBA. She has worked with several renowned companies, and while serving as the City Head at OYO, she earned an annual package of 1.8 million rupees.

She held the position of Fuel Manager at Bharti Infratel Limited and worked as an Engineer at Tata Teleservices before her current role. In 2019, she became a Project Unit Consultant with the Government of Bihar’s Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, according to NavBharatTimes.

In June 2019, Aastha introduced ‘Gramshree Kisan’, initially creating a YouTube channel dedicated to farming and animal husbandry content. By 2020, she expanded her efforts with the launch of a mobile application, and in 2021, the inaugural Gramshree Kisan Center was opened in Patna.

The initial venture has transformed into a substantial operation, expanding its poultry farm from 100 to 1,000 chickens, while its dairy farm has grown from 2 cows to 10 and 50 goats.

Over 6,000 farmers are currently associated with the Gramshree Kisan centers run by Aastha. Aastha operates these centers across 26 blocks in Bihar. At these centers, farmers receive training in goat, cow, poultry, and fish farming. Additionally, support is provided for the availability of animal feed and grains.

Gramshree Kisan holds certifications from both the Government of India and the Government of Bihar.

She invested Rs 27 lakh from her personal savings to launch her business. Additionally, her partner firm added Rs 30 lakh to the project. Beyond these contributions, she received a grant of Rs 10 lakh through the Bihar Startup Policy and another Rs 24 lakh from the Government of India.

Aastha aims to boost Gramshree Kisan’s revenue to Rs 10 crore in the coming years.
