With the Maharashtra Assembly elections fast approaching, the political atmosphere in Pune is heating up. Even though the official list of candidates has yet to be announced, prospective candidates have started gathering necessary documents to participate in the electoral race. One critical requirement is securing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), which certifies that candidates have no pending dues or legal hurdles.

Following the announcement of the election schedule by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, many candidates have already begun the process of applying for their NOCs. Sources reveal that two candidates have successfully obtained their NOCs, while five others have submitted their applications.

According to the election timeline, candidates can file their nominations between October 22 and 29. The scrutiny of applications will occur on October 30, and candidates have until November 4 to withdraw their nominations. Voting will take place on November 20, leaving candidates limited time to campaign.

Prospective candidates must clear any outstanding government dues before their nominations are considered valid. Failure to secure an NOC could lead to disqualification if opponents raise objections based on unresolved taxes or liabilities.
