Pune – Prakash Ambedkar, prominent leader of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), was admitted to a Pune hospital early Thursday after experiencing chest pain. The VBA announced via social media that Ambedkar is receiving treatment in the ICU for a heart-related issue, specifically a blood clot. His condition is reported to be stable, and doctors plan to conduct an angiography shortly.

The Ambedkar family has requested privacy, urging the public to refrain from inquiries during this time. Family members expressed their appreciation for the support and asked for continued respect as Ambedkar remains under medical observation for the next three to five days.

In Ambedkar’s absence, Rekha Tai Thakur, the state president of the VBA, will oversee campaign operations, alongside the election coordination, manifesto, and media research committees. This leadership shift comes as the VBA gears up for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, where they plan to contest 163 of the 288 seats, including major constituencies like Kopri-Pachpakhadi and Baramati.

Ambedkar’s hospitalization comes at a crucial time for the VBA as they intensify campaign efforts to challenge key opponents, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The party’s election run, now under the temporary guidance of Thakur and VBA committees, continues to draw attention as the political landscape in Maharashtra evolves.
