On January 22, 2024, a grand ceremony marked the consecration of a 51-inch tall idol of Ram Lalla in the newly constructed Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. However, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, which manages the temple, announced that the anniversary of the consecration will not be held on January 22. Instead, it will take place on January 11, 2025. The trust explained that Hindu traditions dictate that festivals should be celebrated according to the Hindu calendar. The consecration ceremony was conducted on Paush Shukla Paksha Dwadshi, also known as Kurma Dwadashi, which is the 12th day of the full moon in the month of Paush. In 2025, this date corresponds to January 11, leading to the decision to observe the anniversary on that day.

During a meeting on Monday, the Ram Temple trust made several important decisions regarding the development of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.”

It was announced that Delhi’s Apollo Hospital will establish a modern healthcare facility covering 3,000 square meters near the Passenger Service Center at the temple site. Additionally, permanent sheds, 9 meters wide and approximately 600 meters long, have been installed to replace temporary German hangers, providing shelter for pilgrims from heat and rain. The 51-inch idol, created by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was consecrated in the presence of around 8,000 VIPs from various backgrounds, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the pran pratishtha ceremony.

The construction of the Ram Temple, which was initially set to be completed by June 2025, is now expected to finish by September 2025. Nripendra Mishra, the chairman of the construction committee, mentioned that the delay is mainly due to a shortage of about 200 workers and the need to replace some stones on the temple’s first floor.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is built in the traditional Nagara architectural style, measuring 380 feet in length (east-west), 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. The design was created by renowned architect Chandrakant B Sompura and his son Ashish.

The sanctum sanctorum features the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram, represented by the idol of Shri Ram Lalla, while the first floor contains the Shri Ram Darbar.

The temple is supported by 392 pillars and has 44 doors, spanning three stories with each floor standing 20 feet tall. The pillars and walls are adorned with intricate carvings depicting various Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses.
