In a shocking turn of events, the Kolhapur police have arrested four individuals, including an ayurvedic doctor, for their alleged involvement in over 50 crimes, primarily house break-ins and marijuana supply. The arrests come after a recent burglary in Ispurli, where thieves stole gold jewelry worth Rs 5 lakh.

The police investigation led to the discovery of a notorious gang, headed by 46-year-old Gurudatta Pol, a resident of Jawahar Nagar in Kolhapur city. Pol was caught with the stolen jewelry in his possession, which he intended to sell in Kalamba. Further interrogation revealed that three others were involved in the burglary: Sanjay Pol, Gurudatta’s relative and an ayurvedic doctor; Harish Pol, Sanjay’s brother; and Swapnil Satpute, an accomplice. According to Inspector Ravindra Kalamkar of the local crime branch, Sanjay Pol had stopped practicing medicine about a year ago due to a huge debt and joined his relatives in committing crimes.

The police have a significant record of the gang’s criminal activities, with Gurudatta involved in 52 cases and Satpute in 22 over the past six years. Sanjay Pol also has cases of robbery and marijuana supply registered against him at the Mahatma Gandhi police chowky in Miraj.
