Teen driver faces legal action after a high-speed collision spree in Pashan leaves two injured.

A Pune court remanded a 19-year-old, Hrutik Sham Bansode, to police custody on Friday after he allegedly drove an M G Gloster SUV under the influence of alcohol, damaging five vehicles and injuring two people in the Pashan area on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm, beginning at Nanaware Chowk and continuing onto Baner-Pashan Link Road and Sus Road. According to the police, Bansode lost control of the SUV, colliding with a school bus, multiple parked cars, and vehicles in motion at Shivshakti Chowk.

Pushkar Patil, 40, and his daughter, residents of a housing society in the area, were injured in the mishap. Patil lodged an FIR at Baner Police Station, detailing the damage caused by Bansode’s reckless driving.

Details of the Incident

• The SUV, driven at high speed, first collided with a school bus at Nanaware Chowk before speeding through Pashan Sus Road.

• Four cars and a private bus were also damaged. Vehicles parked in front of a garage at Nanaware Chowk bore the brunt of the collision.

• Traffic Police Inspector Rajni Sarode and Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi confirmed no fatalities but significant road congestion due to the incident.

Legal Action and Investigations

The police apprehended Bansode and booked him under Sections 110, 281, 125(a), and 324(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. He was produced before a magistrate court, where police sought his custody for further investigation.

Sub-inspector Avinash Karad stated that Bansode, a Baner resident employed as a patient caretaker, had consumed alcohol before driving. Investigators are working to determine the ownership of the SUV and conducting a medical examination of the accused.

The police emphasized the severity of the offense, highlighting the risk posed to commuters due to the accused’s actions. The case remains under investigation.
