Bavdhan has become the next hot spot after Hinjawadi, Kharadi, Undri for realty sector. Its close proximity to the highway (Pune Bangalore) and Mumbai has made it a popular destination for IT professionals.
But this area took a long time to develop as it still remained neglected by the civic body. But the residents who chose to live in this suburb took the matter in their hands and streamlined a lot of development issues which were hampering the movement of the locals.
From introducing adopt a lane Initiative, too no vehicle on Sunday, the local residents have taken the task of making Bavdhan a truly liveable suburb.
Over 250 residents from Bavdhan came together for an initiative where the citizens pledged to curb use of vehicles on first Sunday of every month.

Citizens from the age group of ten to sixty years participated in the initiative which also saw a human chain and running. The residents formed human chain holding placards urging people to avoid use of any sort of vehicle for commuting on Sunday atleast. The message given by the people was clear to save environment from further deterioration.
A resident of Bavdhan informed Pune Pulse that the initiative was very well appreciated and we, the members of Bavdhan Citizens Forum were happy to see the participation from the locals. He said, “We should all carefully take the step towards making our city a truly liveable city. Commuting on cycle or walking cn definitely make a big difference if even one family adopts this initiative.”
It was an event entirely conceptualised and executed by the members of Bavdhan Citizens Forum.
Rakhi Saraph, a Bavdhan resident and anarchitect by profession said, “We had amazing response for this ‘No Vehicle Day initiative organised by Bavdhan Citizens Forum. We had over 300 citizens who attended the event over the last few months and pledged to curb use of vehicles atleast once in a month. It is our dream to make Bavdhan an ideal suburb and slowly work towards making Pune a real smart city, where presence of cycles becomes more prominent than cars on the road. We need to leave behind a better planet”

BCF has started a beautiful concept called “Adopt a Lane”. Residents and members of BCF work very closely with local governing bodies, corporators, traffic police, PMC to solve all the civic issues of each lane they have adopted.
Like getting it cleaned, rectifying lights, repairing of roads, potholes, unauthorised vehicles, hawkers and any other issue that’s causing inconvenience.
We slowly want to achieve a SAFE BAVDHAN, CLEAN BAVDHAN and GREEN BAVDHAN, the residents echoed.
