The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to approach the railways, MSRTC, PMPML, and all government offices to ensure that garbage is lifted regularly from their premises. This move comes after the civic administration faced criticism for mismanaging daily waste. According to officials, public establishments such as bus terminals, railway stations, and government offices witness significant footfall, making it challenging to maintain cleanliness.

The PMC recently approached the railway administration regarding the cleanliness of the area around Pune railway station. Key areas of concern include Regional Transport Office (RTO) premises, railway stations, bus terminuses (MSRTC and PMPML), Metro stations, and government establishments (central building and Zilla Parishad building). Citizens have expressed frustration over the lack of maintenance in these areas.

The solid waste management department has launched a “deep cleaning drive” across the city, involving six to seven departments of the PMC. Officials have instructed squads to increase vigilance at public areas and warned vendors, stall owners, and food joints against dumping garbage on the roadside. By taking a proactive approach to waste management, the PMC aims to improve the overall cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of public establishments in Pune.
