YouTuber Nalini Unagar has announced her decision to stop creating content after spending over Rs 8 lakh on her channel in the last three years. She stated that her choice was influenced by the lack of income from YouTube.

Nalini, who operated a cooking channel named Nalini’s Kitchen Recipe, shared her experiences and the difficulties she faced in a series of posts on X. In these posts, she mentioned that she is selling her kitchen accessories and studio equipment.

In her post, she expressed, “I failed in my YouTube career, so I’m selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know.”

Nalini’s posts quickly gained traction, with many users encouraging her not to give up on her journey. Despite the support, she elaborated on her reasons for stepping back, highlighting her commitment over the past three years, during which she created more than 250 videos without seeing significant results.

In her message, she expressed, “I’m overwhelmed by your suggestion not to quit YouTube. Let me remind you I dedicated 3 years to YouTube, creating over 250 videos. However, I didn’t get the response I had hoped for, so I’ve finally decided to stop making videos and have deleted all my content from the platform. Online platforms require a bit of luck too, so it’s wise not to rely on them as a primary source of income. Your ‘shop’ can shut down before you even wake up the next day.”

Her announcement has sparked a conversation about the difficulties of succeeding in the online content world. Many users expressed sympathy for Nalini’s challenges, while others provided advice and encouragement. One user commented, “I can understand how disheartening that must be. Wishing you all the best for whatever comes next. It’s perfectly okay to move on if you feel you can’t continue.” Meanwhile, some suggested that she keep her videos online instead of removing them, noting that algorithms could potentially benefit her in the future.

“Why did you have to delete it? Could’ve just left it there someday the algo would have picked it up and gone viral,” one user mentioned. Another user chimed in, “Even Joe Rogan had to slog for 5 years before seeing any money.”

“Your expectations were wrong.

YouTube is to share knowledge, not to make money from it.”, another wrote.

Nalini Unagar has been in the news before. Last year, she had a fierce online debate with actress Swara Bhaskar regarding vegetarianism and body image.

During that exchange, Bhaskar criticized Nalini for posting a collage that body-shamed her for gaining weight after giving birth. Nalini shared before-and-after pictures of Swara on X and asked, “What did she eat?” This prompted a flurry of responses from Swara and her supporters.
