Pune: Dumper Driver Claims Three Lives, Injures Nine On Wagholi Kesnand Road

In a tragic incident on Pune’s Wagholi Kesnand Road, a speeding dumper truck ran over 12 people sleeping on a footpath, killing three and injuring nine. The accident, reportedly caused by a truck driver under the influence of alcohol, left the city in shock. The incident took place at 12.30 am on Sunday night.
Among the deceased were two toddlers, who, along with the others, had been part of a group of laborers that arrived in Pune from Amravati just a day earlier in search of work. The victims were resting on the footpath when the truck veered out of control and plowed into them.
Of the nine injured, three remain in critical condition and are being treated at Sassoon Hospital. The other six are also undergoing medical care. Witnesses described the aftermath as chaotic and heart-wrenching.
Police have taken the driver into custody and are investigating the incident. This tragedy has once again highlighted the dire consequences of drunk driving and reckless behavior on the roads, as well as the vulnerability of laborers who often have no safe place to rest.
