Maharashtra: Ladki Bahin Scheme Beneficiaries May Soon Get Loans Up to ₹40,000, Says Deputy CM Ajit Pawar
State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced that December’s disbursements under the Ladki Bahin scheme would be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the end of the month. She assured that the department was expediting the process after discussions on payout delays.
“The disbursement for December will be completed by month-end,” Tatkare said. She reiterated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s statement during the Nagpur assembly session, confirming that the payout of ₹1,500 per beneficiary would be processed on time.
The previous disbursement, covering October and November, was completed on October 9 before the assembly elections. It benefited approximately 2.34 crore people. Tatkare hinted that verified applicants who had not received payouts earlier would be included in the December round.
The minister also highlighted ongoing verification of documentation, with disputed applications undergoing a detailed review. CM Fadnavis stressed the importance of scrutinizing the beneficiary list to remove ineligible recipients. He mentioned the process would follow the PM Kisan Yojana model, where ineligible beneficiaries voluntarily gave up their benefits.
Fadnavis further stated that the government plans to increase the monthly payout from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100 in the next financial year, as promised in the election manifesto. Currently, Maharashtra has over 2.43 crore beneficiaries under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, with the state spending ₹3,700 crore monthly on the scheme.
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde also assured that the scheme would not be scrapped. “The scheme played a key role in our election success, and the December instalment will be transferred immediately,” Shinde said.
The Ladki Bahin scheme provides crucial monthly support to women across Maharashtra, aiming to improve their financial stability.
