Weather Update: Pune To Witness Light Rainfall, Cloudy Skies Over Next Few Days

Weather Update: Monsoon Likely To Hit Kerala By May 27, Four Days Ahead Of Schedule: IMDÂ
Pune and its surrounding areas are likely to experience light rainfall and partly to generally cloudy skies, accompanied by possible thunder and lightning, during the latter half of the week. This forecast was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
According to the IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Pune city on Tuesday stood at 29°C and 16.8°C, respectively. However, the real feel was lower due to the partly cloudy conditions. Over the coming few days, temperatures are expected to hover around 28°C to 30°C during the day and 17°C to 20°C at night.
The IMD has attributed this weather pattern to an atmospheric interaction between cold and dry westerlies from the north and moist easterlies from the south. This interaction is likely to lead to localized thunderstorms, light rainfall, and even hailstorms in some areas.

“Easterlies will bring moisture to Maharashtra between Thursday and Saturday, while upper-level trough will bring cold and dry air from the north,” informed. “This interaction will create atmospheric instability, which may cause rainfall and thunderstorm activity in areas like Pune, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada.”
Although it is uncertain whether hail will occur in parts of the city, isolated areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada may experience hailstorms. The cloudy conditions are also likely to prevent a significant drop in minimum temperatures.
“The minimum temperature may even increase slightly over the next few days due to the cloud cover,” added IMD. “A drop in minimum temperatures could occur towards the end of the month.”
