Pune Tragedy Strikes: Two Family Members Lives Lost in Road Accident in Lohegaon While Returning from Hospital
A man and his sister-in-law died in a tragic collision involving a speeding SUV near the 509 junction, leaving their family and community in mourning.
Ashirwad Nagesh Govekar (52), a resident of Mapusa, Goa, and his sister-in-law, Reshma Ramesh Govekar (66), from Bhairavnagar, Dhanori, Pune, lost their lives in a road accident while returning home after medical treatment. The tragedy occurred when Ashirwad accompanied Reshma to the ECH (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health) Hospital of the Air Force for her deteriorating health condition.
After completing the treatment, the two set out for home on a two-wheeler. Witnesses reported that while attempting to cross the road near the hospital gate, a speeding Mahindra SUV overtaking stationary vehicles struck their vehicle head-on. The impact was fatal, causing Ashirwad to die on the spot. Reshma was rushed to ECH Hospital and later transferred to Command Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Following a formal complaint by Reshma’s daughter, a case has been registered at the Airport Police Station. The incident has shocked the local community, who are mourning the loss of two lives in such a tragic manner.
