Pune: PMC Delays Draft Budget Submission For Third Year; Civic Chief Holds Meetings With Dept Heads
Following instructions from the state public health department, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a month-long inspection drive targeting private medical centers. On Thursday, PMC officials conducted inspections at ten private hospitals registered under the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 1949. The drive aims to ensure compliance with the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act and the Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2021. A total of 850 nursing homes and hospitals in the city will be covered during this period.
Dr. Nina Borade, PMC’s health chief, and Dr. Suryakant Devkar, assistant health officer, have urged the administrators and directors of these medical centers to cooperate with the inspection teams. Dr. Devkar clarified that nursing homes are required to undergo inspections twice a year, as per the 2021 amendment. Any deficiencies found during the inspections will be communicated to the hospitals either orally or in writing.
The drive follows directives from the deputy director of health services, Pune division, and a training session was conducted for health officials on Wednesday to prepare for the inspections.
