Pune, January 20, 2025: A hookah parlor operating illegally in a hotel in Mundhwa was raided by the Crime Branch Unit 5 team, leading to the seizure of hookah equipment and flavored tobacco worth ₹7,000. The police have registered a case against the hotel owner and manager under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act of 1918.

The raid was conducted following information received by Police Constable Tanaji Deshmukh about the unlawful activity. Acting promptly, the team raided the hotel and confiscated the items being used in the hookah parlor.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawde, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik. The team included Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande, Assistant Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde, and officers Tanaji Deshmukh, Pramod Tilekar, Prithviraj Pandule, Shubhangi Mhalshikar, and Sanjay Dalvi.
