A tragic railway accident in Maharashtra’s Palghar district has claimed the life of a 16-year-old schoolgirl. Vaishnavi Rawal, a Class 10 student, was fatally hit by a train near Saphale station while crossing the railway tracks with earphones on.

The incident occurred when Vaishnavi was crossing the tracks and failed to hear the approaching Rajdhani Express from Gujarat. Engrossed in her earphones, she was unable to react in time, resulting in the fatal accident. Her untimely death has left the local community in mourning.

Locals blamed the lack of a pedestrian bridge near the railway crossing as a contributing factor to the accident. Following the incident, residents have urged railway authorities to construct a footbridge to enhance safety for commuters.

The tragedy has sparked a debate on the need for increased awareness about railway safety among students.

Community leaders and the police have called for counseling sessions to educate students on avoiding earphone use while near railway tracks or crossing roads.

Vaishnavi’s death serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with careless behavior and excessive reliance on mobile devices. It underscores the urgent need for better safety measures and responsible use of technology, especially among the youth.

This heartbreaking incident has left Palghar residents shaken and serves as a wake-up call for greater caution and awareness regarding railway safety.
