Residents of central Pune will have to wait until August for a steady water supply. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that work on water tanks and pipelines in the area will be completed by August this year.

The affected areas include Model Colony, Deccan, Shivajinagar, and University Road, where water supply has been disrupted due to ongoing infrastructure projects.

To address these issues, MLA Siddharth Shirole held a meeting on Monday with PMC’s water department officials. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of the 24×7 water supply project and other ongoing works in the city.

During the review, PMC officials assured that higher-capacity water tanks, which are crucial for improving water supply, will be operational by August. They also confirmed that work on related water infrastructure projects will be completed within the same timeline.

The water scarcity in these central parts of the city has caused inconvenience to residents. PMC’s delay in completing the 24×7 water supply project has been a recurring concern.

Residents are hopeful that once the new infrastructure is in place, water-related challenges will ease. Meanwhile, MLA Shirole has urged the administration to expedite the work and ensure timely completion.

This ongoing project is part of PMC’s broader efforts to implement a 24×7 water supply system across the city, aimed at reducing water shortages and improving distribution.

The administration’s assurance of completing the work by August comes as a relief, but the affected residents will have to manage with limited water supply until then.
