Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Hospitalised In Thane
Mumbai, July 4, 2026: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has been admitted to a private hospital in Thane after reportedly suffering from fatigue and health issues caused by an intense work schedule.
According to preliminary information, Shinde was admitted on Friday after experiencing fever and severe weakness while attending the ongoing state legislature session. He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors, and sources from the Shiv Sena said his condition is stable and there is no cause for major concern.
Due to his ill health, all of his scheduled engagements on Friday were cancelled. This included a planned induction programme at Gangubai Shinde Hall in Thane, where Shubhangi Patil from Dhule was expected to formally join the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Sources indicated that the Deputy Chief Minister had been under considerable work pressure in recent weeks amid major political developments in Maharashtra. Shinde has been actively involved in a series of political activities, including efforts to induct leaders from the rival Thackeray faction into his party, which reportedly required multiple visits to New Delhi. The hectic schedule is believed to have contributed to his health condition.
Meanwhile, despite the postponement of the scheduled event, Shubhangi Patil officially joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena at around 2 a.m. on Friday in the presence of Shrikant Shinde. Patil had earlier contested the Nashik Graduates’ Constituency election on a ticket from the Maha Vikas Aghadi and had secured nearly 50,000 votes.
