From time to time, many entrepreneurs and professionals create lists of cities they would like to live in. This ongoing discussion often leads to varied opinions, with individuals sharing the advantages and disadvantages of different places. A tech professional from Delhi sought advice online for a significant decision: selecting the best city to move to—Pune, Bengaluru, or Hyderabad. On Reddit, he shared that he has three years of experience and has spent his entire life in the National Capital Region (NCR). He asked, “Pune/Bangalore/Hyderabad which is the best one amongst to move from ncr?” His straightforward question sparked an enthusiastic debate among users, with many passionately defending their preferred city while weighing the benefits and drawbacks of each option.

All three cities are prominent technology centers in India, recognized for their dynamic job opportunities, cultural richness, and increasing urban attractiveness.

“Hi guys, I’m a software engineer with 3 years of experience and currently working in NCR. I’ve lived here my whole life and was born here as well. Now I’m looking to switch jobs; is it worth moving to Bengaluru? I’ve been hearing a lot of people say that Bengaluru isn’t great anymore,” the Reddit user wrote in his post.

“The thing is, I’m really introverted and shy, and I don’t have any friends. Do you think it’s okay for me to make such a big move? Is it easy to find friends there? I’m open to any suggestions!” he mentioned.

His post gained a lot of attention, with numerous users sharing their thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages of each city.

“I live in Pune and occasionally go to Hyderabad. Life in both cities is quite similar. Language isn’t a problem here (unlike the issues with Kannada in Bangalore). However, the traffic in Pune is really bad. But if you like weekend trips (which I usually don’t), Pune might be a better option,” another user pointed out.

“In my view, Hyderabad is the best choice. I’ve spent most of my life in Pune and have been to Bangalore too, but the traffic and road conditions in those cities are quite poor right now. Hyderabad has much better roads and traffic! One thing to keep in mind is that once all the construction work in Bangalore is finished, it might improve,” said another commenter.

“I’m from Pune, and I wouldn’t recommend moving here. The startup scene is limited, and the infrastructure is lacking. I bought a house here, so I’m staying, but otherwise, I would have relocated to Hyderabad,” another user added.

Imo, Hyderabad seems like a solid choice. I’ve spent most of my life in Pune too, and while I’ve been to Bangalore, the traffic and road conditions in both Pune and Bangalore are pretty rough right now. Hyderabad definitely has better roads and traffic flow! It’s a lot smoother there. Just a heads-up though, once all the construction in Bangalore wraps up, it might get better.

But I hear you on Pune too. It’s a mixed bag; some say it’s not great for startups and the infrastructure could use some work. But I’ve been in Pune for a while and haven’t had many negative experiences. The Marathi folks are really warm and welcoming, so you probably won’t feel lonely or out of place here. If you’re considering either city, think about what fits your lifestyle and needs best!

“People in Pune and Hyderabad are really friendly, and both cities have a decent number of companies. While Bangalore has many job opportunities, the language barrier can make you feel like an outsider. In Pune and Hyderabad, you generally won’t experience discrimination. I’ve been to all three cities, and I personally think Pune and Hyderabad are better than Bangalore”, wrote one user.

One user ranked the cities based on various criteria: for companies, it’s Bengaluru > Hyderabad > Pune; for the cost of daily essentials, Pune is the best, followed by Hyderabad and Bengaluru tied; in terms of infrastructure, Hyderabad is first, then Bengaluru, and lastly Pune; and for social life, Pune is equal to or better than Bengaluru, while Hyderabad is behind.
