Pune, June 14, 2026: More than 150 residents, senior citizens, students, and community volunteers participated in a Footpath Awareness Walk organized by Voice of Pashan at Balaji Mandir Lane in Pashan on Sunday.

The initiative was aimed at highlighting the need for safe, accessible, and encroachment-free footpaths for pedestrians. Participants raised concerns over the increasing practice of cars and two-wheelers being parked on footpaths, forcing pedestrians to walk on busy roads and putting their safety at risk.

The event received support from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), with Assistant Municipal Commissioner Vijay Naikal and officials from the Aundh-Baner Ward Office joining the awareness drive.

Addressing the gathering, representatives of Voice of Pashan stressed that footpaths are meant exclusively for pedestrians and should remain free from illegal parking and encroachments.

“A city becomes truly livable when its citizens can walk safely. Through this initiative, we seek to promote responsible civic behavior and reclaim footpaths for pedestrians,” a representative of the citizen group said.

The awareness campaign encouraged residents to engage in discussions on pedestrian rights, road safety, and civic responsibility while fostering collaboration between citizens and civic authorities.

Voice of Pashan thanked the Pune Municipal Corporation, local residents, housing societies, and volunteers for their active participation and support. The organization stated that it will continue working with citizens and government agencies on issues related to pedestrian safety, traffic management, cleanliness, and civic infrastructure to make Pashan a safer and more livable neighbourhood.

Voice of Pashan is a citizen-led initiative focused on improving civic infrastructure, promoting road safety, encouraging environmental sustainability, and strengthening community participation in the Pashan area.
