Belagavi, Karnataka: Former Goa MLA Lavoo Mamledar passed away on Saturday shortly after a confrontation with an auto-rickshaw driver in Belagavi district, Karnataka. While the exact cause of his death remains unclear, police have confirmed that the auto driver has been taken into custody.

CCTV Footage Reveals Heated Confrontation

The incident reportedly began around 1:40 PM near Srinivas Lodge, where Mamledar’s vehicle allegedly collided with an auto-rickshawCCTV footage shows Mamledar engaging in a heated argument with the auto driver. The situation escalated when Mamledar slapped the driver, who retaliated. Despite bystanders stepping in, the driver continued to strike Mamledar before the situation was defused.

Following the altercation, Mamledar entered Srinivas Lodge. CCTV footage from inside the lodge captured him ascending the stairs when he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Political Leaders Pay Tribute

The news of Mamledar’s sudden demise has left Goa’s political fraternity in shock. Amit Patkar, President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, expressed condolences, highlighting Mamledar’s contributions to the state. Carlos Ferreira, Congress MLA from Aldona, remembered him as a dedicated former police officer and a compassionate leader.

Lavoo Mamledar’s Political Journey

Mamledar served as the MLA for Goa’s Ponda constituency from 2012 to 2017. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished career in law enforcement, known for his firm and just approach.

Authorities are investigating the cause of his death, with an autopsy report expected to provide further clarity.
