Hindu Mahila Sabha Pune hosts a special talk with Shreegauri Sawant
Pune, 22 February – Hindu Mahila Sabha Pune organized an insightful conversation with transgender activist and ‘Sakhi Char Chowghi’ Founder, Shreegauri Sawant. Titled “Ek Taali….Aani Barach Kahi”, the event held at S.M. Joshi Hall, Navi Peth, addressed stereotypes and celebrated the transgender community’s struggles and achievements. Renowned writer Madhuritai Tamhane conducted this interview.
The interview enlightened the audience that from living in Bhawani Peth with her family to becoming a mother, Shreegauri Sawant’s journey is one of resilience, courage, and love. With just ₹60 in hand and no direction, she built a life of strength despite struggles and loss. Her daughter, Gayatri, became her inspiration to embrace motherhood. As she spoke about her past, the pain of her journey was evident, but so was her unwavering spirit.”
