Pune CNG Crisis Deepens: Dealers Give MNGL 24 Hours To Restore Supply Or Suspend Sales
Pune, 24 July 2026: The Petrol Dealers Association Pune (PDAP) has expressed serious concern over the persistent low gas pressure in the MNGL pipeline network, which has been affecting several CNG stations across Pune for more than a month. The prolonged disruption has resulted in long vehicle queues, severe traffic congestion, reduced dispensing capacity, substantial financial losses to dealers and immense inconvenience to thousands of CNG consumers.
Despite the issue continuing for weeks, MNGL has not issued any official communication to consumers or government authorities. Consequently, dealers are bearing the brunt of public anger and are even facing action from Police and Traffic Authorities due to congestion outside CNG stations. The Association has emphasized that the situation is entirely the result of inadequate gas pressure in the distribution network and not due to any lapse on the part of CNG dealers.
PDAP has demanded that MNGL immediately restore normal gas pressure, issue a public advisory explaining the situation, and officially communicate to the District Collector, District Supply Officer, Pune Police and Traffic Police that the operational difficulties and traffic congestion are direct consequences of reduced gas pressure and not due to any negligence by dealers.
Dhruv Ruparel, President, Petrol Dealers Association Pune, said, “For over a month, CNG dealers have been paying the price for a failure that is entirely beyond their control. Our members are suffering heavy financial losses, public outrage and even police action, while MNGL has remained silent. It is unacceptable that innocent dealers are being made scapegoats for an infrastructure deficiency. MNGL must immediately restore normal gas pressure, publicly acknowledge the issue, inform the administration and law enforcement that dealers are not responsible for the prevailing situation, and accept full responsibility instead of allowing dealers to continue suffering.”
PDAP has warned that if MNGL fails to restore normal gas pressure within the next 24 hours, CNG dealers across the affected areas will have no option but to suspend CNG sales until the issue is resolved. Dealers cannot be expected to indefinitely bear financial losses, public resentment and administrative action arising from deficiencies in MNGL’s gas distribution network.
