Actor Suniel Shetty recently recalled a shocking incident when he was held at gunpoint by police in Los Angeles after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Shetty was in the US shooting for the film Kaante, directed by Sanjay Gupta, when the attack on the World Trade Center took place.

The actor arrived in LA just before the tragedy and saw the horrifying visuals on television on the first day of the shoot. His wife, Mana Shetty, called him, concerned for his safety.

A few days later, an incident at his hotel led to a terrifying misunderstanding. Shetty had forgotten his room key and asked an American man in the elevator if he had his key. However, the man grew suspicious, ran out, and created a commotion.

Soon, armed police officers rushed in from the street. “They pointed guns at me and said, ‘Down, or we shoot,’” Shetty recalled. In shock, he dropped to his knees, and the police handcuffed him.

The situation escalated due to his appearance. “I had a beard at that time, and people were very scared after 9/11,” he said. Fortunately, the film’s production crew arrived, and a Pakistani hotel manager intervened, explaining that Shetty was a well-known actor.

The actor admitted he had no idea what would happen next, as the scene was chaotic. “All that we went through at that time was insane,” he said.

Despite the frightening experience, Shetty and the team resumed filming after a few days.
