Maharashtra Govt To Offer 500 Services On WhatsApp For Faster Citizen Access
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is set to provide 500 of its services through WhatsApp, making governance more accessible and efficient for citizens. The initiative was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Meta and the state’s IT department at the Mumbai Tech Week event, inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday.
Highlighting the widespread use of WhatsApp, even in rural areas, Fadnavis stated, “With this new initiative, citizens will have access to government services more conveniently and swiftly.”
In another key development, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is set to establish its global headquarters at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has allocated a plot for this purpose.
Additionally, to foster entrepreneurship, the government plans to establish an Entrepreneurship Museum, which will serve as a hub for aspiring business minds.
Fadnavis also emphasized the impact of the state’s ‘war room’ initiative in streamlining decision-making for infrastructure projects. Previously, approvals from 18 different government agencies were required, causing delays. By bringing all relevant officials together in one place, the process has been expedited, accelerating key projects like the Metro, Coastal Road, and Atal Setu.
