Pune: A massage therapist was robbed of ₹25,000 in the Parvati area by a man posing as a police officer. The incident occurred after the victim connected with the accused through a social media app.

According to the complaint filed at Swargate Police Station, the victim, who offers home-visit massage services, was contacted by the accused on February 25. The accused, claiming to need a massage, arranged a meeting at 6 PM in the Parvati Paytha area.

Upon meeting, the accused pretended to be a police officer, assaulted the victim, and threatened to file criminal charges against him. The victim was then taken on a two-wheeler to the Lakshminarayan Cinema area, where the accused forced him to withdraw ₹25,000 from an ATM before fleeing.

This incident adds to a growing trend of robberies linked to social media interactions. Similar cases have been reported in the Magarpatta and Dhayari areas, where individuals were assaulted and robbed.
