Pune News: PCMC Plans AI Integration In Governance Under ‘Vision@50’ Initiative
Pimpri: As the world rapidly adopts advanced technologies, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its administrative processes, said Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh.
Speaking at a workshop under the “Vision@50” initiative, Singh emphasized the necessity of AI in municipal governance to enhance efficiency. PCMC, which will complete 50 years in 2032, has launched this initiative to outline the city’s future development strategies.
The two-day workshop brought together key officials, including Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale, Vijaykumar Khorate, and Chandrakant Indalkar, as well as City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, and Health Officer Dr. Laxman Gophane.
Experts from Palladium, a consulting firm engaged for urban transformation planning, shared insights from stakeholder discussions conducted over the past two months. The focus was on integrating AI for better urban planning, public services, and civic management.
Singh reiterated that PCMC aims to foster cultural, artistic, and sports development while ensuring inclusive city planning. As part of this process, the corporation is hosting dialogues with stakeholders to gather feedback, which will be incorporated into a comprehensive municipal roadmap. The plan will also factor in suggestions from the government and elected representatives.
Based on these discussions, PCMC will formulate necessary policies and implement structured action plans. The initiative is expected to pave the way for new projects and developmental schemes aimed at transforming Pimpri Chinchwad into a modern, AI-enabled city.
