AI-Powered System to Analyze News Trends and Combat Misinformation

Mumbai, March 6, 2025 – The Maharashtra government has announced plans to set up a media monitoring centre at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore to track news coverage across print, electronic, social, and digital media. This initiative aims to analyze positive and negative reports, detect misinformation, and assess public response to government policies.

According to a Government Resolution (GR) issued on Wednesday, the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) will oversee the project, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to monitor news trends and combat fake news that could create unrest.

The centre will function from 8 AM to 10 PM, generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports on news sentiment, policy impact, and emerging narratives.
