Pune Road Accident: 27-Year-Old Medical PG Student Dies After Crash on Pune-Nashik Highway
Pune: A 27-year-old medical postgraduate student from Nanded district died while undergoing treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway near Chakan.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Prashant Raju Dasarwar, a resident of Mukramabad in Mukhed taluka of Nanded district. He was pursuing his MD postgraduate medical education in Pune. His colleague, Dr Mahesh Vyankatrao Awale, was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment.
According to reports, Dasarwar and Awale had completed their duty at a rural hospital in Chakan on Wednesday. At around 10 pm, the two left on a motorcycle to have dinner.
While travelling on the Pune-Nashik Highway, their motorcycle was allegedly hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle near the Talegaon Chowk-Ambethan Chowk area. Following the impact, the motorcycle skidded and the two fell onto the road.
Dasarwar sustained severe head injuries and suffered significant blood loss. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. As his condition became critical, he was later shifted to Dhanashree Hospital in Moshi for further treatment. Despite efforts by doctors to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
Dasarwar was the only son of Raju Laxmanrao Dasarwar, a well-known commission agent from Mukramabad. News of his death has cast a pall of grief over his hometown, with residents and members of the medical community mourning the loss of the young doctor.
According to information provided by his family, Dasarwar’s last rites were scheduled to be performed in Mukramabad at around 10 am on Saturday, July 25. He is survived by his grandmother, parents and two sisters.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and efforts are underway to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the collision.
