Pintu Mallah from Prayagraj has become a sensation after earning ₹30 crore during the Maha Kumbh by ferrying pilgrims. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath even mentioned his success in the assembly.

Pintu, a resident of Arail in Naini, comes from a family of over 100 people. Months before the Kumbh, they started preparing by arranging 130 boats to ensure good earnings. To finance this, Pintu even mortgaged his mother’s jewelry. Initially, she was worried about losses, but as the earnings grew, the family was overjoyed.

The 45-day-long Maha Kumbh proved to be life-changing. With 130 boats in operation, Pintu and his family earned around ₹30 crore. Each boat reportedly made over ₹50,000 per day, amounting to ₹23 lakh per month.
The government had fixed the fare at ₹483 per person. However, reports suggest that passengers were charged between ₹2,000 and ₹4,000. If a 10-seater boat charged ₹1,500 per person, a single trip earned ₹15,000. Boats made multiple trips daily, resulting in high earnings.

Pintu denied overcharging allegations, saying they followed government rates. He admitted that some pilgrims voluntarily gave extra money as donations.

Pintu owned 70 boats, and other families in the village had 10-20 boats each. The entire boating community in Prayagraj saw a massive economic uplift. “We never imagined earning this much in life,” Pintu said.
He thanked CM Yogi and PM Modi for organizing the grand Kumbh, which benefited boatmen immensely.
