Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Verma, and under the leadership of Senior Divisional Signalling and Telecommunications Engineer Mr. Rajesh Meena, Pune Division, Central Railway, has successfully converted LC 31 (between Walha-Nira) and LC 33 (between Nira-Lonand) from non-interlocked engineering gates to interlocked engineering gates. This marks a significant step towards enhanced railway safety and operational efficiency.

This interlocking work also required modifications at LC 32 and Nira station, due to complex signal combinations, making it a major alteration in the existing panel interlocking system. The work was executed efficiently with a traffic block of 2 hrs and 50 minutes.

Salient Features of the Upgraded Gates:

Provided at both gates with motorized boom locking of M/s Pragati. Positive boom locking ensured through BLR.

– Integrated Power Supply (IPS):-

1. LC 31: IPS of HBL make with 200 AH battery of HBL make.

2. LC 33: IPS of Statcon Energia with 200 AH battery of HBL make.

– Remote Terminal Unit (RTU): Efftronics make RTU with networking to Nira and the main server, ensuring vital relay contacts are wired in RTU.

– Standby Fuse Alarm System: Reliance make standby fuse alarm system covering all vital fuses provided at both gates.

– Sliding Boom with Direct Locking: Ensuring secure gate closure in case of Main boom failure. Gatemen and on-duty staff have been counseled for smooth operation.

– Modified Key Lock Relay (KLR): Equipped with a crank handle for emergency operation in case of power failure.

– Fire Alarm System: Agni make fire alarm installed with potential-free contact wired into the datalogger for real-time monitoring.

– Earth Leakage Detector: Reliance make earth Leakage detector installed for continuous monitoring of all vital voltage bus bars.

– Gate Phone with Voice Logging: Ensuring reliable communication, with a spare gate phone also available.

– CLS Panel: Both UP and DN AT supply with MSEB supply provided for seamless operation.

Commissioning of Dual BPAC in Nira-Lonand Section

Along with this interlocking work, Dual BPAC (Block Proving by Axle Counter) has been successfully commissioned in the Nira-Lonand section. This system is equipped with media redundancy using both OFC and Quad cables, with an automatic changeover arrangement, ensuring uninterrupted and fail-safe train operations.

This milestone reflects Pune Division’s commitment to modernization and safety enhancement, reinforcing its dedication to smooth and secure railway operations.
