Pune News: Show-Cause Notices Issued To 34 Officers, Including Two Additional Commissioners Of PCMC. Know why
Pimpri: A total of 34 senior officers, including two additional commissioners, were found absent during the three-day time slot reserved for meeting citizens. As a result, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has directed the General Administration Department to issue show-cause notices to them.
For the past three years, the municipal corporation has been under administrative rule, and many citizens visit the office for their work. However, due to the officers’ absence, they have been facing difficulties in meeting them. To address this issue, Commissioner Singh had designated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM as fixed meeting hours for citizens. Officers were instructed to be available during these hours and refrain from scheduling internal meetings or site visits.
Despite these directives, an inspection team from the General Administration Department found that 34 officers had failed to be present on multiple occasions. A ten-day attendance report was prepared and submitted to the commissioner, revealing repeated absenteeism. Based on this report, Commissioner Singh ordered the issuance of show-cause notices to the absent officers.
The investigation revealed that Accounts and Finance Officer Pravin Jain, Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, and Assistant Commissioners Amit Pandit, Mahesh Waghmode, Mukesh Kolap, and Babasaheb Galbale were absent for the highest number of days. Other senior officers, including Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale-Patil, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, and several assistant commissioners, were also among those found absent.
Deputy Commissioner of the General Administration Department informed that notices will be issued.
