WoW gives platform to budding women entrepreneurs
There is nothing impossible for a woman to achieve in life. Be it education, raising a family, living life on her own terms and fulfilling her dreams.
WOW – Women of Wonder Group, a unique women’s group consisting of entrepreneurs from different industries have been successfully doing business for the last five years. This group is unique because it mainly has ‘Stay-At-Home- Moms’ (SAHM) who are unable to take up permanent jobs but can easily run a business from their homes.
Renuka Suryavanshi spoke to the founder of WOW – Shilpa Venkat about this group on her successful journey.
Shilpa Venkat is an ace photographer – journalist – who had to leave her career for other priorities in her life. But her entrepreneurial skills never let her sit idle. Thus, WOW was formed. A resident of Magarpatta city in Hadapsar, she organised an exhibition and was looking for sellers to fill up the vacant stalls. Her exhibition became a huge hit and she gained friends in her life, who eventually persuaded her to form a group.
Shedding more light on her journey Shilpa says, “WOW Group is a very unique and one of the biggest women’s business group on Telegram messenger app in Pune. This is an exclusive BUYER – SELLER women’s group. The group was created in 2015. Apart from business the group is super helpful and informative too. Daily business happens in the group and women are actually getting regular and consistent business orders. We are 2000+ women members from all over Pune on Telegram and growing each day.”
She further says, “The group has motivated many women to start small businesses from home and given confidence to many women to start something small on their own. WOW Group has ladies from all fields (as service providers) and we have an equal number of ladies who have joined the group to just avail the amazing services. Strict discipline is maintained in the group and it’s a super organized women’s group.”
