Pune: Two men have been booked for alleged sexual harassment at a pub in Yerawada. The incident took place around 12:45 am on Sunday, when the accused reportedly misbehaved with three women on the dance floor and later harassed a 30-year-old female bouncer who intervened.

Incident Details

According to the Yerawada Police, the two men—aged 34 and 31—were on the dance floor when they allegedly made unwanted advances and obscene gestures toward three women. Disturbed by their behavior, the women reported the issue to the female bouncer.

“When the bouncer asked the two men to stop disturbing the women, they responded with obscene gestures and verbal abuse instead,” said Senior Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station.

Police Action

Following the altercation, the pub management alerted the police, who took the two men into custody. “The accused are residents of Koregaon Bhima in Shirur Taluka and run businesses in the industrial sector,” Shelke added.

A formal complaint was registered, and the police issued notices to the accused, instructing them to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

Legal Proceedings Underway

The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for outraging a woman’s modesty and harassment. Further investigations are underway, and the police have assured strict action.

This incident raises concerns over women’s safety in nightlife venues, emphasizing the need for stricter security measures to prevent such occurrences.
