A shocking incident unfolded at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport when the body of a newborn was discovered in a restroom trash bin late Tuesday night.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for abandoning the infant.
According to officials, airport security personnel found the newborn around 10:30 pm and immediately alerted the Mumbai Police.
The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared the baby dead upon arrival.
The Sahar Police have registered a case against an unidentified person and are scanning CCTV footage from the airport premises to track the culprit.
Investigators are also examining forensic evidence and coordinating with airlines to review passenger records in an effort to narrow down potential suspects.
