Pune Cook Attacked In Contract Killing Plot; Fiancee Hired Assailants, Say Police
Pune: In a shocking turn of events, a 28-year-old cook was attacked in Pune’s Daund area after dropping off his fiancee—only for police to later discover that she had allegedly orchestrated the attack to have him killed. The woman, Mayuri Sunil Dandage, reportedly paid ₹1.5 lakh to contract killers to eliminate him as she did not want to marry him.
The victim, Sagar Jaysingh Kadam, a native of Karjat in Ahilyanagar district and a cook at a hotel in Pune’s Baner area, was ambushed near the Sai Misal hotel in Khamgaon on February 27. A group of men intercepted him and attacked him with wooden sticks, threatening to kill him if he married Dandage.
Kadam immediately approached the police, who arrested five suspects involved in the assault. However, during the investigation, officers uncovered that Dandage had allegedly planned the attack and was still on the run.
Police Investigation Unravels Shocking Details
According to Senior Police Inspector Narayan Deshmukh of Yavat police station, “The investigation revealed that Dandage had paid the attackers ₹1.5 lakh to kill Kadam because she did not want to marry him.”
Kadam’s family had arranged his marriage with Dandage, who hails from Shrigonda in Ahilyanagar district. Days before the attack, Kadam had received a threatening WhatsApp call from a man claiming to be Dandage’s boyfriend. However, when he informed her and her family about it, she denied knowing the caller.
On February 27, Dandage allegedly invited Kadam to watch a movie. After the film, he dropped her off at a relative’s house in Khamgaon around 7:15 pm. As he was returning to Pune on his bike, he was ambushed and attacked by the assailants.
